Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior System Auxiliary Engineer. This senior-level role will design, coordinate, and implement auxiliary and infrastructure systems. The position is based in Oakland, California.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in Infrastructure and Auxiliary Works within the railway engineering context, including brownfield projects.
  • Proven experience in infrastructure construction and civil installation design.
  • Full-cycle experience in test and commissioning phases.
Technical Expertise
  • Strong knowledge of auxiliary mechanical and electrical systems (design, installation, commissioning).
  • Familiarity with contract management, interface coordination, and compliance processes.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office; knowledge of Autodesk Revit or 3D software is a plus.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Effective team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Flexible and willing to travel or relocate as needed.
Educational Qualifications:
  • Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering or Information Technology Qualifications/ University Degree or Equivalent Technical Background
Languages:
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.


In accordance with the DOT's FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi's substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.

The salary range for this position is $126,000- $189,000 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate's experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
