The Department
The Community Services Department (aka Parks and Recreation) strives to improve the health, wellness and quality of life for Fremont residents by offering a wide variety of exceptional educational and recreational programs and services, historic and cultural resources, facilities, unique attractions, special events, park use, public art, and urban forestry.
The Position
The Senior Landscape Architect will plan, supervise, and review the work of City Landscape Architect staff. The incumbent will: coordinate and oversee various landscape projects; perform professional landscape architect work in conjunction with the design and preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for the development and rehabilitation of parks and street beautification projects; review the work of developers and consultants for conformance with plans, specifications, and City requirements; prepare and administer grants; prepare reports on analyzed documents and/or data; conduct public outreach; lead master planning efforts; and give professional advice on landscape matters.
Examples of Job Duties
Education
Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Horticulture, or closely related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience
Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in landscape architecture, park planning, or park management.

The successful candidate will possess mastery of the principles and practices of landscape architecture, and have the ability to plan, supervise, review and evaluate the work of City and contract staff. The incumbent must also demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
