Overview

The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for managing the Housekeeping Department to ensure attentive, friendly, efficient, and courteous service, providing guests with a clean and safe environment while controlling expenses and maintaining service quality.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline Housekeeping and Laundry staff per Highgate SOPs.
  • Ensure adherence to training standards and establish cleaning schedules.
  • Maintain and control housekeeping equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and risk management standards.
  • Conduct inventories and manage large guestroom turnovers efficiently.
  • Manage vendor contracts and oversee hiring and training of staff.
  • Inspect rooms and public areas daily for quality standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness, security, and privacy standards.
  • Manage work orders, staff scheduling, and payroll documentation.
  • Promote communication and professionalism within the department.
  • Handle VIP and special guest requests and monitor VIP rooms.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to guest satisfaction scores.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive hotel or related experience; or a 4-year degree with 1 year of experience; or a 2-year degree with 2+ years of experience.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work long hours and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and confidentiality skills.
  • Attend all required meetings and participate in MOD coverage.
  • Maintain high standards of appearance and professionalism.
