Description:

Overview

Lead Systems Architect – Future CTO Track

  • Fremont, CA | Hybrid | Global Tech Leader | U.S. Citizenship or Green Card Required
  • $180K – $260K + Bonus + Benefits

The Opportunity: We're partnering with a cutting-edge technology company in the communications and defense intelligence space to find a Lead Systems Architect who is not only passionate about engineering excellence but also has the potential to step into a future CTO role. This is a high-impact leadership position with direct mentorship from the current CTO and a clear path toward executive-level succession. This isn't just another architecture role — it's your chance to shape next-gen RF and spectrum monitoring systems that are deployed globally in support of national security, infrastructure protection, and critical communications.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • CTO Succession Track: Shadow and collaborate closely with the CTO, gaining first-hand exposure to strategic initiatives, key client relationships, and tech roadmap planning.
  • Architectural Leadership: Drive system-level architecture for complex software, hardware, and embedded systems across customer solutions and internal roadmap products.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Translate high-level requirements into actionable workstreams for multidisciplinary teams—software, hardware, DSP, and systems engineering.
  • Customer-Facing Engineering: Engage directly with strategic customers to understand needs, shape solutions, and support pre-sales and delivery efforts.
  • Technology Vision: Lead the design and documentation of new product architectures while helping define the long-term technology roadmap.
  • Global Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams worldwide and travel internationally to engage with customers and partners.

What You Bring:

  • 10+ years in systems or solutions architecture involving complex RF, DSP, communications, or spectrum-related technologies.
  • Strong technical breadth across software, hardware, signal processing, and embedded systems.
  • Prior experience in COMINT, EW, spectrum monitoring, or related fields is highly desired.
  • Deep understanding of system design processes from concept to deployment.
  • Effective communicator who can influence both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
  • Passion for innovation, problem-solving, and mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Expertise in areas like SDR (Software Defined Radio), FPGA platforms, DF/Geolocation, or spectrum standards.
  • Familiarity with spectrum regulations or international monitoring protocols (e.g., ITU guidelines) is a bonus.

Work Environment & Perks:

  • Hybrid work model with a strong in-office leadership presence required in Fremont, CA.
  • International travel as needed for key customer engagements and technical collaborations.
  • Compensation range of $180,300 – $261,000, based on experience and fit.
  • Comprehensive benefits from day one: medical, dental, 401(k) match, generous PTO, and performance-based bonuses.

Why This Role: If you're an experienced architect who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution—and you're ready to step into a future leadership position—this role offers mentorship, growth, and global impact. You'll be shaping mission-critical technologies while preparing to take the reins as the next technology leader of a highly respected organization.
