Position
Field Safety Professional. This role is a on-site position within the Safety Department for a hyper-scaled data center construction project. Location: Sunnyvale, CA. Reports to the Project Safety Manager and collaborates with site leadership and cross-functional teams to support day-to-day site activities and safety program content for the project Safety Team and stakeholders. This position ensures compliance with all regulatory, owner, and Hoffman policies in a complex mission-critical environment.
Responsibilities
- Dedicate a minimum of 80% of time to observing/correcting field safety conditions, conducting safety audits, and coaching craft personnel in best safety practices.
- Interact professionally with all employees to promote safe acts and workplace conditions.
- Create and maintain an injury- and accident-free work environment.
- Identify, evaluate, and correct hazardous conditions and practices.
- Train craft personnel on new employee orientation and construction safety programs; document formal training.
- Conduct and document safety inspections.
- Report safety violations or hazards to the Supervisor in charge for immediate correction.
- Ensure subcontractor employees wear appropriate clothing, PPE, and safety equipment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, owner requirements, and company policies.
- Respond immediately to any injury, incident, or near-miss; preserve evidence and assist with analysis.
- Conduct Industrial Hygiene monitoring and maintain records as necessary.
- Provide clear communication verbally, in writing, and electronically.
Salary
Salary Range: $100,000 - $135,000 Annually Depending on Experience
Qualifications
We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player who can manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and meet deadlines. The successful candidate will possess:
- Minimum of five (5) years of construction safety-related experience
- High School diploma or GED
- OSHA 500 construction certification preferred
- CHST or CSP certification preferred
- Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or related field preferred
Position-Related Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction safety practices
- Experience in field observations, safety interactions, and behavioral interventions
- Safety training experience, including contractor orientation
- Familiar with hazard communication programs and GHS
- Construction hazard recognition
- First Aid/CPR/AED certified
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Team player, self-starter, flexible, and able to work with limited supervision
- Strong judgment, initiative, and ownership of tasks
- Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office
Additional Requirements
- Physical and mental requirements related to field safety roles, including standing, walking, outdoor work, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting up to 50 pounds, and flexible work hours to accommodate construction schedules
- Must be able to operate in a high-pressure environment while maintaining safety standards
