Job Title: Manager, Payroll & Benefits
Reports to: Sr. HR Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position within the HR Department of Capcom USA, Inc. (CUSA) responsible for managing, implementing and administering programs and systems associated with payroll, employment, benefits, compensation, communications, and employee morale. Assists with the development of these programs/systems and associated policies and procedures. Responsible for managing and administering all aspects of timely payroll processing and reporting. Provides quality customer service to HR/Payroll customers. Responsible for standard and ad-hoc reporting. Responsible for Payroll/HR database setup & maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Payroll Management - 40%
- Manage semi-monthly full-cycle payroll run for Capcom USA, Inc. (CUSA) and Capcom Pictures, Inc. (CPI) groups as required.
- Provide administrative functions for the Paylocity Databases and related reporting.
- Ensure the integrity of payroll/HR records, files and reporting. Maintain Fidelity database to correspond with plan covenants and current employee information and elections; ensure accurate/timely payroll deductions.
- Implement and maintain systems for tracking employee time-off.
- Prepare payroll/benefit accounting monthly/quarterly/annual reports, journal entries, reconciliation, audit work papers, and labor allocation for financial records.
- Stay current on payroll regulations to ensure company compliance with applicable laws; ensure appropriate application of exempt/non-exempt status and overtime/rest/meal break rules are communicated to supervisors/managers.
- Ensure accuracy of recording payroll activity in payroll system (time off, deductions, LOA, etc.) and timely payroll processing. Ensure processes are SOX/JSOX compliant.
- Benefits Administration - 25%
- Internal administration and coordination with external administrators for company benefits programs.
- Administers benefit vendor and broker websites. Evaluates service providers, market trends and practices to ensure competitive services.
- Implements new benefit plans as required. Tracks eligibility and communicates changes (new hire, LOA, termination, or ineligibility due to reduced hours).
- Administers COBRA and conversion benefits. Assists participants with questions and claims processing.
- Maintains plan documents and source document records; reconciles vendor invoices prior to payment.
- Compensation - 10%
- Evaluates salary adjustment requests and other compensation status changes prior to approval.
- Participates in annual focal review program; ensures position and salary adjustments are documented and entered in HRIS/payroll.
- Reviews performance appraisals and uses compensation surveys to evaluate base pay; compiles data for surveys.
- Provides customer service for employee questions; coordinates Workers' Comp claims; other duties as needed.
- Workforce Planning/Budgeting/Forecasting/Financial Analysis - 25%
- Updates hiring forecasts with current recruiting plans; communicates with department heads to ensure plans are current and approved.
- Tracks and updates actual compensation and benefits costs in forecasting software; prepares monthly forecast reports and communicates variances.
- Prepares annual budget headcount and salary reports; collaborates with department heads on payroll & headcount projections; provides ad-hoc reports as needed.
- HR Operations – As Assigned
- Assists in the company events committee; develops/ administers programs to recognize service anniversaries, welcome new hires, and support employees affected by downsizing or layoffs; prepares communications related to responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in payroll cycle – Paylocity preferred.
- Good understanding of accounting principles
- Proficient in Excel, Word
- Familiar with accounting systems (preferably SAP, Hyperion Pillar/Essbase)
- Excellent communication (written, verbal, listening and interpersonal skills)
- Excellent customer service skills
Minimum Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent with 3-6 years of related experience. Requires excellent customer service attitude and communication skills. Must be self-motivated, proactive and able to manage flexible priorities. Excellent interpersonal skills and professional approach in dealing with all levels of employees. Able to handle and maintain confidentiality on an ongoing basis.
Certifications
CPP desirable. PHR or SPHR certification a plus
Physical Demands
This position occasionally requires exerting up to 25 pounds to move objects in the storage room and/or event preparations. This position requires repetitive keyboard work about 50% of the time.

Salary Range
$95,000 - $120,000. Compensation is based on current market trends for the San Francisco Bay Area and will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and skill set.
