Cromatic is an AI-enabled contract research procurement platform trusted by over 100 life science organizations.

Biotech and pharma companies lean on contract research and manufacturing organizations (CROs and CDMOs) to access specialized expertise and expand their capacity. Currently, the market cap of this space is estimated at around $85 billion. According to McKinsey & Company, spending on outsourced research has increased at twice the rate of in-house R&D over the last eight years. Based on this trend, experts project that the market cap of outsourced research will likely grow to $240 billion by 2030.

Yet most biotech companies still rely on word of mouth to identify critical CRO partners and manage these essential relationships through emails, spreadsheets, and phone calls.

That's where Cromatic comes in. We've built agentic flows that match biotech project requirements with the expertise of CROs and CDMOs globally.

We're growing rapidly and are seeking a founding software engineer to build and enhance features that support our expanding user base.

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Drive end-to-end development of features that solve real problems in scientific research outsourcing.
• Leverage emerging technologies to enhance our platform's capabilities.
• Thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment where creativity and autonomy are encouraged.
• Adapt to changing priorities and manage ambiguity effectively.
• Own the customer feedback loop, driving improvements with strong product sense.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in full stack software development, with emphasis on using NodeJS, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, React, Typescript, and TailwindCSS.
• Strong understanding of ML concepts (LLMs, model training, finetuning, embeddings, etc).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, cross-functional team.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Experience with or ability to learn fast about the biotech / pharma space.
