Overview

ProMach's MBF North America, a leading supplier of bottling and packaging equipment, is seeking an experienced Aftermarket Sales Engineer to join our team in Petaluma, California. This is a high-impact role focused on growing aftermarket sales within an established territory that offers significant potential for expansion.

As an Aftermarket Sales Engineer, you will work closely with existing customers to identify and manage opportunities for conversions, retrofits, and rebuilds. Your goal is to help customers maximize the performance and lifespan of their equipment. You will collaborate with engineering and field service teams to develop and deliver tailored technical solutions that meet each customer's evolving production needs.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who thrives in a technical, customer-focused environment. Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, a consultative approach to sales, and the ability to manage projects from initial inquiry through completion. This position reports to the Director of Operations and is based at our Petaluma, California facility. Travel to customer sites throughout North America is required.

Base Salary Range: $95,000 - $105,000

Base location: Petaluma, California

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Promote Sales Opportunities: Identify and cultivate conversion, retrofit, and rebuild opportunities by analyzing the installed base, building relationships with customers, and understanding areas for improvement.
  • Quote and Order Management: Gather engineering specs, samples, and necessary project details to prepare and process accurate quotes and orders in a timely manner.
  • Increase Customer Satisfaction and Sales Potential: Recommend product enhancements, upsell opportunities, and strategies to improve customer satisfaction and sales growth.
  • Technical Presentations: Present technical information to customers both in-person and electronically, ensuring clear communication of solutions.
  • Marketing and Competitive Analysis: Partner with global marketing to develop effective aftermarket collateral and analyze competitive activity to improve positioning.
  • Data-Driven Sales Strategy: Use installed base data, spending trends, and sales history to identify sales opportunities and drive revenue growth in the aftermarket sector.
  • Customer Re-engagement and Lead Generation: Develop strategies to regain lost customers, proactively pursue new leads, and follow up on open quotes to secure projects.
  • Project Management: Oversee all aspects of project execution, including purchase order follow-ups, invoicing, and timing details, ensuring successful and timely project completion.
  • Technical Liaison and Internal Collaboration: Act as a point of contact for technical resolutions during and after project implementation and collaborate with internal teams to move projects forward.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in technical or aftermarket sales, project management, or related roles within packaging, processing, or industrial equipment industries.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of industrial machinery, tools, service practices, and the ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proven consultative selling skills with the ability to analyze customer needs, identify opportunities, and develop revenue growth strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building lasting customer relationships and presenting technical information clearly.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects from quoting through installation and post-sale support.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, service, operations, and marketing.
  • Must be able and willing to travel to customer sites throughout North America approximately 25% of the time.
