The Automation IT Automation Application Development Brand Technical Specialist (BTS) is a technical, pre-sales, client-facing role supporting customers in the US Industry Market. As a Brand Technical Specialist you'll work closely with clients to develop relationships, understand their needs, earn their trust and show them how IBM's industry leading solutions will solve their problems whilst delivering value to their business.

Responsibilities

  • The BTS provides prospects, customers, IBM business partners and the IBM's sales team with in-depth domain, product, solutions and/or technical product expertise covering the IBM Automation AppDev pillar. This pillar includes solutions such as Websphere Application Server, UrbanCode/IBM DevOps, Cloud Pak for Applications.
  • Apply business insights, build and maintain client relationships, incorporate hardware, software and services into client-valued solutions and ensure client readiness for the implementation of technical solutions. This is an opportunity to shape the future for both IBM and its clients.
  • Engage in pre-sales activities of the sales cycle including sales/business discussions, solution discovery, assessments, demonstrations, pilots and proofs of concepts. Understand the client's business and technical requirements and competitive landscape related to IBM Automation AppDev.
  • Provide technical accuracy for proposed solutions when engaged for a specific opportunity or project. Deliver written documentation and materials to support the sales team and opportunities.

Qualifications

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

  • Work closely with clients to understand business requirements, assess existing systems, and recommend optimal solutions utilizing IBM AppDev products.
  • Proven track record in technical sales, preferably within the AppDev space.
  • Good understanding of security practices, methodologies, architecture patterns, and best practices.
  • Basic exposure to AppDev solutions, especially WebSphere Application Server.
  • Sales and Business Development Skills: ability to drive sales processes from opportunity identification to relationship development and client expectation management.
  • Pre-Sales Support and Solution Design: experience delivering technical presentations, demonstrations, and proofs of concepts.
  • Ability to navigate complex sales cycles and help negotiate contracts.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure successful implementation, configuration, and customization of AppDev products.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions for clients' stakeholders to educate them on AppDev functionalities and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • Automation Market Expertise: Demonstrating expertise in the Automation market and establishing trust as a valued advisor for clients (training on IBM's Automation offerings will be provided).
  • Technical exposure to IBM AppDev solutions, especially WebSphere.
  • Background in development, especially Java.
