Hybrid and Travel Expectations
CalSAWS supports a hybrid/remote work model, with expectations of onsite work on a regular basis.
All positions may be subject to some short-term travel in order to conduct project business with the State and counties. The CalSAWS project office is currently located in Gold River, CA and is expected to open an office in Norwalk, CA in the near future.
Who is CalSAWS?
The California Statewide Automated Welfare System (CalSAWS) is the largest county-based human services system in the nation. In June 2019, all 58 California counties formed the CalSAWS Consortium as a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) to govern system operations and represent the collective interests of every county.
As of October 2023, CalSAWS successfully unified all counties into a single statewide system. CalSAWS is now in its Maintenance and Operations (M&O) phase, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient system functionality for millions of Californians. The organization is currently transitioning vendor contracts in phases, with infrastructure services completed in July 2025 and Maintenance and Enhancements (M&E) services scheduled to conclude by January 2026.
CalSAWS plays a vital role in enabling counties to deliver essential services effectively and securely, making this position a critical opportunity to contribute to California's statewide public service mission.

Typical Qualifications
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline and three (3) years of recent, highly responsible experience in supporting the security of multiple platforms, operating systems, software, and network protocols in a large information technology organization
-OR Two (2) years of experience administering an IT security program at the level of a Departmental Information Security Officer I
-OR Five (5) years of recent, progressively responsible experience in implementing information systems or managing/assisting in the management of an information technology organization, three (3) years of which must have been leading an IT-related security and/or privacy program on a full-time basis.

SALARY: $8,560.62 - $ 11,851.18 depending on experience

Position Information
The Security Analyst II will play a key role in supporting the Security and Operations Manager to ensure the security and stability of the CalSAWS system. This position is responsible for:
- Supporting security operations and protecting critical assets and information.
- Coordinating security activities and ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Contributing to the review of system metrics and operational reporting.
- Assisting in cloud provisioning and access control across AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud environments
- Bring demonstrated experience in IT security, system operations, and access control.
- Have hands-on experience with cloud provisioning in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Be capable of leading projects, taking initiative, and collaborating effectively with leadership.
- Possess knowledge of regulatory and security requirements.
- Demonstrate ability to coordinate security activities and contribute to compliance reporting.
- Bring strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Have prior experience working with state and/or local government systems.
