Overview

Data Center Engineer (contract) at Capgemini. Manage, monitor, and optimize enterprise and edge data center operations to ensure availability, scalability, and compliance with operational standards. Requires hands-on expertise with server and network hardware, structured cabling, cooling/power systems, and security/access control. Responsible for supporting physical and virtual infrastructure, coordinating remote hands, and maintaining uptime for mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities
  • Manage physical infrastructure, including Cisco, Dell, and Palo Alto servers, storage, and network hardware.
  • Oversee structured cabling, racking, stacking, power distribution, and cooling systems.
  • Support virtualized environments and capacity scaling for enterprise workloads.
  • Provide remote hands support for troubleshooting, hardware swaps, and patching.
  • Monitor and maintain secure access controls to comply with operational and security standards.
  • Perform routine inspections, incident response, and escalation management.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to maintain uptime SLAs and optimize data center performance.
  • Ensure adherence to established policies, documentation standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Work rotating shifts (2 pm 11 pm EST and 9 am 5 pm EST).
Technical Profile
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise data center hardware (Cisco, Dell, Palo Alto).
  • Proficiency in structured cabling, power, and cooling infrastructure.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar).
  • Familiarity with network and server troubleshooting tools.
  • Hands-on expertise with access management and secure operations.
  • Understanding of monitoring and incident management systems.

Compensation: The employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position: $37.37/hour - $58.39/hour.
