Description:

Stafl Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for battery and electric vehicle powertrain design, simulation, analysis, and testing. The role involves hands-on involvement in the entire product lifecycle, from concept to New Product Introduction. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, enjoys turning theoretical designs into functional solutions, and is excited about contributing to innovative EV technology.

Base pay range

$140,000.00/yr - $182,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of design, validation, and manufacturing for batteries for electric vehicles (aircraft, off-road, marine).
  • Evaluate new manufacturing technology and equipment to enable scaling and continuous improvement of in-house battery production.
  • Develop test plans and design validation methods for battery system failure modes.
  • Perform trade off analysis and DOEs to optimize designs for performance and cost.
  • Use SolidWorks CAD and PDM to manage and collaborate on part and assembly lifecycles.
  • Simulate structural, thermal, and fluid models using SimScale, correlating results to physical testing.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary electrical, software, systems, and project management teams to deliver high confidence products.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with battery technologies used in multiple cell applications or in high voltage applications.
  • A proven history of taking projects from concept through development, test, and certification into production.
  • Experience with rapid-prototyping development processes to create functional prototypes and jigs.
  • Design experience using manufacturing methods such as CNC Machining, Injection Molding, Sheet Metal Bending, 3D Printing.
  • Joining methods, such as ultrasonic welding, wire bonding, laser welding, TIG, MIG, IP67 Sealing methods.
  • Experience evaluating and establishing relationships with CM's & Suppliers.
  • Experience with preforming source inspections.
  • Ability to review technical work and provide guidance and actionable feedback.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical issues in succinct language with non-technical team members and stakeholders.
  • BS or MS / MEng in Mechanical Engineering.

The salary range represents the expected base salary for this role. The actual offer will be based on a variety of factors, including knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. In addition to base salary, full-time employees are eligible for equity/sign-on bonus programs and a comprehensive benefits package.
