The Material Metrology Division at Nova is looking for a motivated Electrical Engineer to support our growth in the semiconductor material metrology segment in Fremont, CA. You will have the opportunity to develop electronics, firmware, and controllers for metrology systems, where your embedded system design skills can be fully utilized. You will participate in a team of electrical and firmware engineers and work directly with scientists to deliver innovative solutions from research pathfinding to product realization.

Pay Range: $95,000- $130,000 Annually (DOE)

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of electrical components for semiconductor metrology platforms, including analog and digital circuits, embedded systems, and high-voltage power systems.
• Assist in PCBA design tasks such as schematic capture, layout, prototyping, and testing under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Contribute to documentation efforts, including design specifications and validation plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical designs into broader system architectures.
• Participate in design reviews, learn from senior team members, and grow technical expertise through hands-on development and testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in PCBA design and embedded systems programming
• Strong proficiency in troubleshooting across PCBA and controller systems, with a proven ability to deliver timely and effective solutions
• Expertise in designing and executing electrical design verification and characterization tests, with a solid understanding of hardware design and manufacturing test parameters
• Includes developing functional, verification, and validation test plans, and writing/executing test scripts (preferably in Python or C#)
• Skilled in board-level analog and mixed-signal circuit design, including schematic capture, layout, design best practices, DFM (Design for Manufacturability), and DFT (Design for Testability)
• Proficient in PCB CAD tools, preferably Altium Designer
• Experienced in using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, waveform generators, and other diagnostic tools
• Hands-on experience with various circuit and PCBA types, including high-voltage (e.g., 5kV, 20kV), flex/rigid, vacuum, and low-noise designs
• Familiar with the full product lifecycle, including defining system and PCBA requirements, conducting design reviews, and managing document releases via the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic with a strong drive for learning and goal achievement
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; collaborative team player committed to fostering effective teamwork and achieving shared goals
