Overview

The Creative Director creates the vision for our company, its brand and lanes in our industry. This position serves as the visionary leader behind the artistic and conceptual direction of the brand, shaping the creative strategy and guiding cross-functional teams—including architects, designers, general contractors, installers, and others—ensuring all output aligns with the brand's identity and goals. Blending business and technical insight with artistic flair, the Creative Director transforms ideas into impactful visual narratives and experiences that resonate with clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Product Design & Development: Design exterior metal structures, panels, façades, and architectural elements for commercial or industrial projects.
  • Serve as the main face of the company for design and the brand.
  • Design solutions on site and assist the Studio when issues arise.
  • Lead design charettes with architects, GCs, and installers for problem solving.
  • Lead design reviews and iterate based on feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, durability, and sustainability standards.
  • Liaise with architects, builders, and fabricators to align project goals and timelines.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure design feasibility, integrating manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC cutting, welding, folding, finishing) into design considerations.
  • Select appropriate metals (e.g., aluminum, steel, copper) based on aesthetics, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Improve current products and create new products.
  • Meet with clients to close projects.

Innovation & Trend Forecasting

  • Translate client requirements and market trends into innovative design solutions.
  • Research emerging design styles, materials, and fabrication techniques.
  • Contribute to R&D efforts for new exterior products or surface treatments.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor offerings and identify market opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Ability to design and excite architects with design solutions and vision.
  • Ability to think outside the box for problem solving.
  • Excellent rendering and sketching skills to communicate ideas (Sketchup, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, Sketchup or similar.
  • Ability to communicate ideas quickly using these tools; hand-sketching is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of metalworking techniques and exterior architectural aesthetics.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent visual storytelling and communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong client relationships with demonstrated existing relationships in the A&E industry.
  • Ability to persuade and sell concepts.
  • Ability to move the Studio to the next level with efficiency and technology.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Design. Façade and exterior-focused experience is a plus.
  • At least 10-15 years of relevant experience as a Design Lead in the commercial construction design industry.
  • Experience as an architect who has built multi-residential and/or commercial projects and understands exterior metal products.
  • A portfolio demonstrating creative and functional design in exterior applications.
  • Excellent understanding of exterior construction.
