Senior VP of Development

Description:

Scion Executive Search has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Senior Vice President of Development for a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit committed to transforming the lives of children facing critical health challenges.

Reporting to the CEO, the SVP of Development will lead all aspects of fundraising and resource development to further advance the mission and outcomes of the organization. Serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, this role is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that supports a multi-million-dollar budget and guiding a talented development team, helping to shape the organizations future by driving philanthropic revenue, cultivating major donors, and expanding corporate and foundation support. This full-time role operates on a hybrid basis with two in-office required days per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and other organizations.
  • Exemplify exceptional stewardship practices to ensure the retention and growth of existing donors.
  • Develop and oversee comprehensive pipeline reports, serving as a strategic tool to drive chapter growth.
  • Collaborate closely with Chapter Director, local Board members and lay leaders, serving as a valuable resource for their efforts in prospecting, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising campaigns, such as annual appeals, crowdfunding initiatives, special events, and online giving campaigns.
  • Effectively utilize the CRM platform in support of donor relationship management and as a means to monitor and evaluate fundraising performance, including tracking revenue, donor retention rates, campaign effectiveness, and return on investment.
  • Leadership of one direct report with responsibilities for hiring, mentoring, coaching, and performance management of new additions to the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive fundraising experience, including campaign leadership and securing six-figure gifts.
  • 5+ years managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and corporate partners.
  • Working knowledge of planned giving, DAFs, CRTs, and CLTs.
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Passion for the mission and values of the organization.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This opportunity offers a competitive salary range of $160,000 - $170,000 (dependent on experience) and a comprehensive benefits package including 18 paid holidays, competitive PTO, medical, dental, and vision insurance (from day one), and retirement plan with up to 4% employer match.
