Job Title: Vice President of Engineering – Drone & UAV Technologies

Compensation: Base salary of $250,000–$400,000 depending on experience, plus an equity package and performance-based incentives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for all engineering functions, including embedded systems, firmware, robotics, and software development.
  • Define and execute the technical roadmap for UAV and drone products, aligning with business strategy and growth objectives.
  • Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams to support rapid company expansion.
  • Oversee architecture, design, testing, and deployment of UAV systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance.
  • Collaborate with leadership across product, operations, and business development to deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Manage engineering budgets, resource planning, and technology investments to support scaling operations.
  • Drive engineering practices and processes to support growth in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory developments in UAV and drone technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • 15+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5–7 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven experience leading complex engineering organizations, preferably in UAV, robotics, aerospace, or embedded systems.
  • Previous experience in a start-up or high-growth environment is highly valued.
  • Experience taking businesses through growth post-investment/funding is a strong bonus.
  • Deep understanding of embedded systems, firmware, flight control, sensors, and UAV hardware-software integration.
  • Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of mentoring and developing engineering leaders.
  • Experience managing budgets, headcount, and engineering resources effectively.
