Senior Project Manager – Heavy Highway
Join our Project Management team and lead high-impact projects that shape the communities we live and work in. This senior-level role partners closely with our specialized Heavy Highway team, primarily focusing on projects in the East Bay. Headquartered in San Rafael, with a regional Bay Area presence.

This position reports to the VP of Heavy Highway Project Management and leads a dedicated team including a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, and Project Administrator.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Project Manager, you'll lead complex heavy civil projects through all phases—from preconstruction through final delivery. You'll drive schedule, budget, safety, and client satisfaction while mentoring the next generation of construction leaders.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution to meet project goals.
· Partner with clients, owners, subs, and suppliers to align on scope, timeline, and costs.
· Monitor costs and maximize financial performance through forecasting and change management.
· Manage change order processes and negotiate pay quantities with clients.
· Lead project meetings, track deliverables, and support field execution.
· Ensure a safe, respectful, and productive work environment.
· Develop and mentor your project team to grow their technical and leadership skills.
· Collaborate with estimating and senior management on strategy and project pursuit.
What We're Looking For
· 15+ years in project management with at least 10 years in heavy civil (earthwork, underground, paving, concrete).
· Strong experience in public works and Caltrans projects.
· Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar preferred.
· Track record of on-time, on-budget project delivery.
· Proven leadership and mentoring skills.
· Ability to identify and mitigate risk while maximizing value.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills.
· Strong computer proficiency, including:
o HCSS HeavyJob, PlanGrid, Smartsheet (or similar)
o Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
· QSP certification required.
· Willingness to travel >100 miles as needed.

This is a full-time, exempt role. Salary is dependent on experience. We offer competitive compensation, growth opportunities, and a robust benefits package.
