About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-growth AI startup focused on building cutting-edge generative AI tools for the legal domain and beyond. As one of the first ten engineers on the team, you'll take ownership of core systems, ship high-impact features, and help shape both the technical direction and team culture from the ground up.

This is a deeply technical IC role ideal for engineers who love solving complex algorithmic problems and enjoy building elegant, production-grade software. If you want to work on real-world applications of LLMs, from contract analysis to AI agents that generate code on the fly, this is the place to do it.
What You'll Do

• Ship high-leverage features across the stack, from LLM-powered backend services to performant front-end interfaces
• Own projects end-to-end-from design to deployment-in a fast-moving, startup environment
• Work directly with founders and senior engineers to shape the product, infrastructure, and internal tools
• Push the boundaries of generative AI with creative, pragmatic engineering solutions

• 3+ years of experience in full-time software development, ideally with a track record of shipping full-stack products
• Strong CS fundamentals and a degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience solving technically complex problems (e.g., in AI, fintech, crypto, or other hard-tech sectors)
• Recent hands-on engineering experience (not primarily managerial)
• Full-stack fluency with technologies like React, Redux Toolkit, Next.js, Node.js, Firebase, PyTorch, and Azure
• Interest or experience in working with LLMs or other AI systems
• High velocity, strong ownership mentality, and comfort with ambiguity

• Former founders or early engineers at venture-backed startups
• Product-minded builders who enjoy writing clean code that solves real user problems
• Comfortable working onsite 5 days a week in San Francisco

• Are looking for remote work or part-time flexibility
• Have outdated technical experience or limited IC work in the past 2 years
• Rely heavily on coding bootcamp training without practical experience
