Description:

Frontend Engineer

Location: On-site (San Francisco, CA)
Compensation: $160,000 - $220,000 base + 0.1-0.3% equity
Type: Full-time
About the Role

An AI-powered research platform is seeking a Frontend Engineer to join their rapidly scaling product team. The company builds tools that replace limited surveys and manual interviews with scalable, real-time qualitative insights - powered by cutting-edge LLM technology. With strong momentum, including a recent doubling of revenue and $17M+ in Series A funding, this is an opportunity to help define a new category in research software.

As a Frontend Engineer, you will build responsive, production-grade applications that power AI-driven research experiences. You'll operate with autonomy, collaborate closely with a small team, and grow into technical leadership as the company scales.
What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain performant, user-facing features using React, Next.js, and TypeScript
  • Integrate frontend with RESTful and GraphQL APIs
  • Apply UX/UI best practices to deliver seamless user experiences
  • Participate in product discussions, helping shape the technical and functional direction
  • Optimize for performance and maintainability in a fast-paced environment
Ideal Background
  • 3-10 years of experience in frontend or full-stack software engineering
  • Experience building scalable, high-quality web applications in a startup or high-growth environment
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and (ideally) Next.js
  • Experience integrating with APIs and real-time data systems
  • Personal projects, founder experience, or other signals of initiative
  • Familiarity with real-time data visualization, WebRTC, or frontend performance tuning is a plus
  • Education is not a factor - emphasis is placed on practical experience and contributions
What You'll Need
  • Comfort operating without detailed specs or rigid project management
  • Drive to move quickly and ship quality code
  • Collaborative mindset and desire to work closely with a small, highly motivated team
  • A strong product sense and ability to make thoughtful technical tradeoffs
Nice-to-Have
  • Prior experience at high-caliber engineering environments (e.g., modern SaaS or developer tools companies)
  • Demonstrated impact in ambiguous or early-stage environments
  • Contributions to open source or public engineering projects
Additional Details
  • On-site role based in downtown San Francisco (team is in-office 4-5 days/week)
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
  • Interview process is fast-moving, with no final rounds currently in progress
