About the role:

Collective is seeking a Senior Software Engineer passionate about tackling complex challenges in both new and existing systems. You will have a rare chance to create a core capability from the ground up, integrating Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, and intelligent agent technologies to influence Collective's operations and growth. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a foundational feature that will shape how Collective functions and expands. As a senior engineer on this team, you will directly improve productivity, reduce operational hurdles, and help serve our expanding community of entrepreneurs by building innovative AI solutions. This role is critical to achieving non-linear scalability, where our business expansion significantly outpaces increases in operational headcount.

What you'll do:

• Build end-to-end product features in close partnership with product and design teams. Take extreme ownership across the full lifecycle: design, execution, launch, and post-production support.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions (including Agents, RAG, and related pipelines) to streamline business processes.
• Collaborate with business units to understand workflows, identify bottlenecks, and propose AI-driven solutions.
• Champion best practices in software development, MLOps, CI/CD, and platform development.
• Stay current with advancements in AI and drive innovation through proof-of-concepts and pilot programs.
• Lead by example, foster a culture of growth and learning, and mentor other engineers.
• Approach problems with a strong product mindset-balancing technical decisions with customer impact.

What you'll bring:

• 5+ years of professional experience in full-stack development, with a strong focus on backend systems, and the flexibility to dive into frontend development or other areas as needed to move the product forward.
• Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML models or automation solutions in a production environment, including experience working on applied AI initiatives.
• Experience with programming languages commonly used in AI/ML (e.g., Python) and web development.
• Curious to explore new technologies, with the ability to thoughtfully leverage AI to enhance product experiences while understanding its limitations.
• A strong sense of urgency and ownership in driving projects from design through execution and support.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
