This early-stage AI infrastructure startup is looking for a Software Engineer, Product to help build its next-generation data platform. As one of the first engineering hires, you'll work across the entire stack to deliver core functionality for an open-source data engine built for large-scale AI/ML workloads. You'll have the opportunity to shape both the product and company direction while working closely with world-class AI researchers and industry partners.
What You Will Do

• Design and build new features for the company's distributed data engine, spanning APIs, dashboards, schedulers, and a Rust-based execution layer.
• Develop integrations with leading technologies in the data/AI ecosystem (e.g., Ray, Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog).
• Partner with AI labs, researchers, and early customers to understand their needs and translate them into product capabilities.
• Contribute beyond engineering-supporting infrastructure, customer engagement, and product design decisions.
• Operate in a fast-paced startup environment with broad responsibilities and high autonomy.

• 5+ years of software engineering experience (applications, distributed systems, databases, or cloud infrastructure).
• Proven track record of building and deploying products end-to-end.
• Hands-on experience with 0-1 product development or Greenfield projects (founding engineer or equivalent).
• Strong ability to engage directly with users, gather requirements, and convert feedback into product roadmaps.
• Startup mindset: balancing speed and iteration with long-term scalability.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, S3).
• Enthusiasm for working in small, focused teams with high ownership.

• Base salary: $150,000 - $230,000
• Equity: 0.2% - 0.5%
