Machine Controls Software Engineer – Automation & Industrial Systems. Onsite role in South Bend with financial relocation assistance. This role is part of a growing Machine Controls Software team within a leading engineering group that focuses on automation and cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and support legacy VB6 systems while developing and integrating new solutions on modern platforms (.NET, C++, C#, WPF).
  • Collaborate with mechanical, hydraulic, and controls engineers on automated projects and systems integration.
  • Engage in multi-project work with the service team, handling ad hoc support as needed.
  • Participate in assessments and problem-solving activities to ensure robust software and control solutions.
  • Contribute to cross-functional design, debugging, and testing efforts to deliver reliable automation software.
Qualifications
  • Solid track record in engineering or software roles (not a fresh graduate; proven work history required).
  • Hands-on experience with VB6 support plus modern languages (.NET, C++, C#, WPF, or a combination).
  • Understanding of PLCs and their integration with software systems.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects daily with resilience and initiative; cross-functional, self-motivated mindset with a love of learning.
  • Experience with online self-assessment and application processes, panel interviews, and computer-based problem-solving tests (in person or via TeamViewer).
