Founding Engineer at Polymath. You'll play a pivotal role in making our AI-native CAD workflow vision real: owning the production architecture, leading backend systems to support pilots, and building the ML infrastructure powering our models. As the first hire, you'll have substantial ownership, growth opportunities, and the chance to shape product and culture at a VC-backed AI startup.

$160,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr

• Own the production architecture: Build a production-quality integration layer that delivers Polymath's AI engine into enterprise CAD workflows.
• Lead backend systems: Design and implement APIs, job orchestration, and CI/CD systems.
• Build ML serving infrastructure: Deploy and optimize vision-language models for production, ensuring reliability and performance at scale.
• Co-design the data platform: Design and maintain pipelines for curating, preprocessing, and managing engineering datasets for training and evaluation.
• Influence ML strategy: Collaborate on model architecture decisions, evaluation metrics, and research priorities.

• 5+ years of software engineering experience: Building and shipping software across backend, frontend, and cloud systems.
• Fluency in Python, C#, and .NET: Ability to quickly pick up CAD APIs (NXOpen, CATIA CAA, CadQuery, etc.). CAD/CAM background is a plus.
• Strong systems perspective: Architect APIs, build CI/CD pipelines, and deploy containerized apps (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes) to cloud platforms (AWS).
• Hands-on ML familiarity: Experience with modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and the full deployment stack: GPU management, inference optimization, and monitoring.
• Startup/founder mindset: Thrives in ambiguity, takes ownership end-to-end, and moves from vision to shipped product quickly. Former founders are a plus.
• Customer orientation: Excited to work with enterprise partners, understand their workflows, and ship usable tools.
