Senior Software Engineer, Funding — Gemini
As an engineer in the Funding organization, you'll be part of the core team responsible for designing, building, and supporting crypto transfers and fiat payments. The team supports deposit and withdrawal of crypto assets and fiat assets on the platform.
This role is required to be in person twice a week at either our San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY office.
The Role
As a member of the Funding team, you'll contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of systems that enable crypto transfers and fiat payments on Gemini's platform.
Responsibilities
- Improve feedback cycles at all levels of development (e.g., iterating on code locally, deploying to test environments, deploying to production).
- Rapidly ramp up on the existing architecture and product features.
- Deliver high-quality, maintainable code consistently.
- Consider design impacts on other teams and the company.
- Review code for correctness, style, and information security concerns.
- Improve performance, maintainability, and operations of the codebase through refactoring and upgrades.
- Identify and advocate for foundational work and practice improvements in their vertical.
- Automate testing to remove manual touch points and improve reliability.
- Mentor less tenured engineers and onboard new team members.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Expertise in Scala or a similar backend language (e.g., Java or Scala or similar).
- Genuine passion for working with developers and improving their experience and velocity.
- Ability to work closely across teams and manage dependencies.
- Customer- and product-focused mindset, with the ability to make well-reasoned tradeoffs between speed and quality.
- Ability to adapt and handle multiple competing priorities in collaboration with peers.

Salary Range: The base salary range for this role is between $140,000 - $200,000 in the State of New York, the State of California and the State of Washington. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
In the United States, employees within the New York, Seattle, San Francisco, and Miami metropolitan areas are expected to work from the designated office on a hybrid cadence, unless there is a job-specific requirement to be in the office every work day. We believe our hybrid approach for those near our NYC, Seattle, San Francisco, and Miami offices increases productivity through more in-person collaboration where possible. Employees outside of these areas are considered part of our remote-first workforce.
