Overview

Director, Merger Integrations and Carve-Outs – PEPI (Open to all US locations)

Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) serves upper middle market and large cap private equity firms to improve operating results at portfolio companies. The MI&C team provides structured, disciplined support across mergers, carve-outs, joint ventures and related integrations, with involvement across the full deal lifecycle from pre-deal to Day 1 and post-close execution.

Responsibilities

  • Director-level responsibilities include: identifying key client issues, determining client needs, supplementing standard assessment techniques with innovative approaches, validating analysis, and developing client recommendations within the engagement context
  • Lead the IMO (Integration Management Office) or a focus area within IMO – Synergies, TSAs, Blueprinting, Day 1 Readiness, Executive Reporting, Integration Roadmap, Communications, Organizational Design
  • Lead and deliver large, complex client engagements that identify, design, and implement creative business and technology solutions for PE clients and portfolio companies
  • Provide interim functional management as required
  • Lead Day 1 and Day 100 Planning, execution and drive performance improvement in key areas: strategic planning, operational optimization/consolidation, back office consolidation, supply chain, IT/reporting integration, customer and channel management
  • Actively drive performance improvement assessments across the enterprise and oversee implementation of recommendations
  • Track progress against Day 1 and Day 100 objectives and adjust integration strategies or personnel as required
  • Implement and oversee the quality of deliverables and manage the team and day-to-day relationships to ensure exceptional performance
  • Participate in development and presentation of proposals for business development
  • Lead small engagements or components of large engagements when needed
  • Practice Development & Eminence: develop practical solutions and methodologies; contribute to thoughtware and point-of-view documents; participate in public speaking
  • People Development: coach, assist staffing decisions, participate in recruitment/retention activities, and support delivery teams

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional consulting experience in merger integration, divestitures, business transformation, and change management
  • Experience in integration planning and divestitures a plus
  • Experience in leading one or more work streams in a business transformation
  • Deep functional expertise in several areas: Finance & accounting operations; HR/organizational design; role and job analysis; leadership and stakeholder involvement; communications planning and management; supply chain/operations; Salesforce effectiveness; marketing optimization; pricing/margin/mix optimization; knowledge management; program management and leadership
  • Experience designing and leading change/communications strategies
  • MBA preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communications; initiative and drive; critical thinking
  • Flexibility to travel at least 75% of the time

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range is $150,000 - $225,000 annually, dependent on education, experience, skills, and geography. A discretionary bonus program is offered. Benefits include healthcare plans, 401(k) with discretionary employer contribution, paid time off (vacation, personal days, sick time, holidays, floating holiday, parental leave), and other programs per policy.
