Job Summary

In this role, you will be relied upon to perform various engineering and design activities under the supervision of the Department Head. This will include design, system analysis and project management as well as selection of equipment, components, and systems.

This position requires a person who is self-motivated, organized and creative with the ability to multi-task. They must have the ability to work as a productive and engaged team member in a fast-paced environment. Strong initiative and follow-through are essential for this job.

Core Responsibilities

  • Analyze and develop appropriate designs solutions for new and existing buildings with emphasis on high performance mechanical design and sustainability.
  • Perform project management duties for small to medium sized projects acting as the lead engineer and project manager responsible for overall project delivery and budgets.
  • Prepare design packages for HVAC, fire suppression, and plumbing systems, including preparation of documents, drawings, scopes of work and technical specifications.
  • Perform a wide array of mechanical design functions, including equipment selections, system sizing, load calculations, product specifications, and design layouts for mechanical system.
  • Capable of in-field audits/investigations, surveying existing conditions, feasibility studies, basis of design reports, and recording information about building components.
  • Implement best practice engineering methods and produce drawings consistent with client requirements and standards.
  • Assist with the preparation of project budgets and schedules.
  • Implement ATCE quality assurance procedures during the design process.
  • Review product data submittals for conformance to contract documents.
  • Coordinate, support, and communicate with colleagues across disciplines.
  • Conduct strategic evaluations and propose innovative solutions for technical design issues.
  • Manage tasks as required to ensure work is completed on time and within the budget.
  • Attends and is an active participant in the design and construction project team meetings.
  • Maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must exhibit technical competency and be able to design projects and direct/train/mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Ensure that designs are compliant with Building/Energy Codes and LEED standards.
  • Performs submittal reviews and ensures timely responses to RFIs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate
  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in the design field.
  • Exceptional management and supervisory skills
  • Demonstrated history of leading building HVAC design projects with satisfied clients
  • Ability to work on challenging design tasks and identify well-founded, original solutions
  • Can explain technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders
  • Highly knowledgeable of codes, standards, and construction/engineering processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proclivity for catching the error and enacting appropriate changes.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with multiple project deadlines.
  • Experience working on large-scale design and construction projects is highly desirable.
  • Field experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit, and other engineering analysis and compliance software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Master's degree and/or Project Management accreditation is preferred but not required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
  • LEED Accreditation.
Essential Requirements
  • Highly Proficient in Revit, BIM 360
  • Strong working knowledge Energy Pro, CBECC.com or eQuest
  • Strong knowledge of State and local Building Codes
  • Highly proficient in Trace 700


Salary

This is a hybrid role. It is anticipated that the working days in the office will be done at our San Francisco, CA office. The expected salary range for candidates who will work in San Francisco is $120,000 - $140,000. The final offer to our new team member will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the length, breadth, and depth of experience within the job and the industry, education, etc. ATCE is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
