JOB DESCRIPTION - Mechanical Engineer

QUALA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a long-term contract role working on-site in Foster City, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to work within an organization that is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market. They are transforming mobility-as-a-service by developing a fully autonomous, purpose-built fleet designed for AI to drive and humans to enjoy!

You will be working as part of a Prototyping Team that is responsible for unblocking the intricacies of Autonomous Mobility. Our team is a technical hub to resolve challenging engineering and design problems in a highly cross-functional environment. Within the Prototyping Engineering team, you will be called to develop and design new ideas in a fast-prototyping environment.

Responsibilities:
• You will design, in CATIA V6, prototype hardware and electromechanical systems
• You will generate 2D drawing packages for fabrication and assembly
• You will evaluate the dynamic, static, structural and thermal-mechanical performances of mechanical assemblies
• You will optimize the design and build of our Prototype Development Fleet
• You will collaborate with experts in AI, Mechatronics, Computer Vision and Robotics from all teams throughout the organization

Qualifications:
• Strong basis of Mechanical Engineering and Physics
• Experience with 2D drawing packages, including GD&T Design with CAD tools such as CATIA V6
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
• At least 2 years relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Integrating electromechanical systems
• FEM Simulation
• Cinematic and Dynamic Simulation
• Prototyping Experience
• Automotive or Motorsport Experience
• Software Experience:

o SOLIDWORKS, SimWise4D, MATLAB, Simulink

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly rate range $50 - $58 hourly DOE
