Alfred Center (FAC) provides a residential recovery program to homeless men who are ready to create sober and stable lives for themselves. The Fr. Alfred Center's year-long, abstinence-based program empowers men with no income or resources with the tools to overcome addiction and the support to establish productive and healthy lives. The holistic treatment offered through St. Anthony's multiple services is rare in the field of recovery and allows for immediate assessment and thoughtful resolution of clients' medical, legal, vocational, and educational needs, most or all of which have been affected profoundly by the cycles of poverty and addiction. Support staff provide a safe and supportive environment for residents through consistent application of the program guidelines, policies, and procedures in relationship with the mission and values of St. Anthony Foundation. As a steward of healing and social justice, you are expected to meet the following duties:Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResident EngagementAssist with completing the intake process and completing discharges, including completion of all paperwork.Responsible for checking residents in and out of the facility, including documenting time and details.Responsible for an accurate and thorough search of client bags entering the facility and reporting issues immediately.Adhere to the guidelines of the St. Anthony Foundation safety program (Employee Handbook pages 68 & 69) to ensure the safety and privacy of all residents.Manage or assist in handling any program emergency, including those involving the police, paramedics, fire department, etc.Monitor incoming calls for residents and refer them to Primary Counselors.Monitor Resident activities in accordance with Fr. Alfred Center Program Policies and Procedures.Participate in one-hour daily oversight of clients' recreational activities.Make routine hourly rounds of each floor and adjoining rooms, ensuring the facility is safe and secure.Responsible for outside perimeter checks, seeking any issue, discrepancy or unusual situations and reporting the same.Manage medication distribution and inventory control, including administering prescribed medications, completing proper documentation, and performing routine medication counts to maintain accurate records and prevent discrepancies.Review client's appointment and approved passes in the electronically shared database.Provide clients with the sign-in and sign-out logs, ensuring that appointments and passes are approved through review of the IntakeQ and confirming that clients are providing accurate information in the Logs.Provide emotional support to the residents when needed (e.g., support with the loss of a loved one, concerns about upcoming court dates, fears, etc.).Treat all guests with empathy, dignity, and respect. Seek to understand the other person's perspective and experience.Demonstrate the ability to work effectively across cultures and an openness to learning about cultures not familiar to oneself.Program Administration and OperationsMonitor the Receptionist Desk and Front Office, keeping sensitive matters confidential.Greet and assist vendors, guests, and clients courteously, utilizing FAC standards to determine their needs and direct them appropriately.Provide oversight to all community volunteers present in the facility. Assist in the orientation and training of team members and volunteers.Answer the program telephones in a professional manner and take accurate, detailed messages.Must ensure the windows on the first floor are closed at all times.Responsible for reporting any discrepancy or deficiency in the medicine log immediately.Oversee all residents on task assignments; for example; houseman, residents with chores, etc.Responsible for training the residents on kitchen and dining room chore duties and ensuring they are completed thoroughly every day, including recycling trash at dinner time and removing trash on the appropriate trash pick-up day.Ensure that all activity rooms (including computer rooms) are closed down at the appropriate times.Review client census and other required electronic information daily as required by the program.Support room changes to ensure the Bed Log is correct, accurate, and up to date. Must notify the House Coordinator of any inaccuracies immediately.Responsible for reporting all visitors who attempt to access the building after regular business hours.Document and update information on residents or the program on Shift Summary by shift's end through email.Complete reports and all other paperwork neatly, legibly, and thoroughly.Enter data and information electronically as required. Look up data and reports electronically through a database as requested.Understand and follow the organization's programs, policies, and proceduresParticipate in regular training and development opportunities to increase personal capacity to apply innovative approaches to daily workflows, service delivery, and functions of the position.Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the facility during the course of the shift, including staff office and break room.TeamworkParticipate in relevant meetings supporting team communication and the program's capacity to fulfill organizational goals and mission.Collaboratively works with others to achieve team success.Manage stress and pressure situations calmly and responsively. Maintain the capacity to control reactions and awareness of how their behavior or response can impact others.Consistently demonstrate integrity while working and representing St. Anthony's.Practice direct, respectful, open, and honest communication with their colleagues. Proactively seeks support from team members or management.Demonstrate cooperation with coworkers, management, and the community at large.Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma/GED and three years experience in social services, particularly in drug and alcohol residential programs.Must have knowledge and understanding of issues involved in working with recovery clients.Drug and alcohol studies certification desired or enrolled in ADP certificate program or is a registered recovery worker with California Certification Board of Alcohol & Drug Counselors.Takes initiative when activity is slow, seeks tasks, and demonstrates a willingness to work.Must remain awake, alert, responsive, and active during all working hours.Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills are required.Ability to be polite, diplomatic, and firm. Can set limits and practice professional boundaries with guests, volunteers, donors, and coworkers.Ability to respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations in a self-composed and self-assured manner.Ability to work non-traditional hours and days (weekends and holidays required).Ability to complete paperwork neatly and legibly.Ability or willingness to learn to use information and communication technologies (computers, smartphones, and iPads) to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information.Ability to be punctual, reliable, cooperative, and stay team-oriented.Experience working in a non-profit or community-based social service agency with people experiencing homelessness or poverty desired.Commitment to St. Anthony Foundation Statement of Values and a desire to work for a social services agency serving the poor.California driver's license with excellent driving record desired.St. Anthony's has a diverse workforce, welcoming all ethnicities, faith backgrounds and worldviews.
