Senior IT Business Systems Analyst - G&A

Gilead IT is looking for a Senior Business Systems Analyst to support the General & Administration organizations. The person selected for this role will be collaborating closely with business leaders, subject matter experts, IT global capability leads, and IT solution delivery teams. The Senior Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for working with the different G&A business functions including HR, Legal, Finance, Procurement, and Corporate Affairs to assist them in streamlining their processes and documenting system requirements to develop business system solutions to meet their business needs. The responsibilities include gathering and documenting business processes and system requirements and collaborating with the G&A IT Global Capability Leads and other IT teams to develop solutions that meet business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with process improvement, Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid methodologies, and a strong understanding of business systems and technologies used within G&A functions. Additionally, this role involves mentoring junior analysts and ensuring business needs are translated into high-quality technology solutions.

This role sits within the IT organization, reporting to the head of G&A IT.

Specific Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering

  • Partner with stakeholders across G&A functions to identify business needs, analyze processes, and document requirements.

  • Conduct as-is and to-be process mapping using methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.

  • Translate business requirements into optimized, scalable, and innovative solutions in collaboration with IT and solution delivery teams.

  • Develop user stories, test cases, and functional specifications to support system implementations and enhancements.

Process Improvement & Solution Design

  • Evaluate current business processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational risk.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to design integrated solutions that align with G&A and Corporate strategies and objectives.

  • Provide insights on best practices for process optimization and system implementation.

Project Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a liaison between business units, IT teams, and external vendors to ensure successful solution delivery.

  • Participate in IT projects, system upgrades, and digital transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals.

  • Utilize Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies to manage project requirements and drive business outcomes.

Testing & Validation

  • Develop and execute test plans for SQA, system integrations and user acceptance testing (UAT).

  • Ensure that technology solutions meet business needs and compliance requirements, particularly in regulated environments such as Life Sciences.

Mentorship & Leadership

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior business analysts on projects and best practices.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of of professional experience in business analysis or a related function in Life Sciences or High Technology domains OR

  • Master's degree along with 6 years of relevant experience as mentioned above.

  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent business partnership, and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Significant experience in streamlining business processes including documenting the as-is and to-be processes through specific methodologies, preferably Lean Six Sigma. Lean Six Sigma black belt or other certification is a plus.

  • Significant experience with Agile methodology and use of Agile tools including Azure Dev Ops or Jira. Agile certification such as scrum master is a plus.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills including the ability and experience with facilitating process development and requirements gathering workshops.

  • Domain experience supporting at least one of the G&A functions including Finance, Procurement, Legal, HR, and Public Affairs is required.

  • Ability to analyze complex business problems and develop process and system requirements.

  • High proficiency with Visio, Lucid, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

  • Experience in Life Sciences and GxP compliant processes are a plus.

The salary range for this position is: $169,320.00 - $219,120.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
