Job description:
Client's is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire a Mechanical Engineer to drive the Design for Serviceability (Client).

In this role, you will perform evaluations of form, fit, function, access and analysis of company products. You will present comprehensive reports, findings and opportunities to reduce cost, time and motion.

We're looking for someone with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience. The ideal candidate has demonstrated successful experience in mechanical engineering within a product design and manufacturing environment.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:

• Partner with cross-functional teams to drive Serviceability (Design for Serviceability).
• Evaluate part and assembly design, from concept to design to manufacturing introduction for hand clearance, tooling clearance, ergonomics and feasibility of replacement of all components.
• Develop service part release strategy and maintain the Service BOM for spare parts planning.
• Work closely with engineering teams to integrate components and electromechanical systems.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers on the build of new product iterations.
• Support specialized tooling design, development and validation that is used by the field team.
• Participate in requirements definition as it pertains to service, availability of the product and reliability.
• Provide comprehensive cost/time modeling that showcases opportunities to drive product change that supports the reduction of cost or complexity of the repair.
• Work with the technical writing team to establish the repair process.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience
• Experience designing and developing products through the lifecycle
• Strong 3D CAD experience (CATI plus)
• Ability to design for a wide range of fabrication and manufacturing processes
• Experience with product/process validation
• Tooling and/or equipment design experience
• Detail-oriented, including proven documentation skills
• Ability to work autonomously to manage projects

Commitment: This is a full-time, 6-month ongoing contract position staffed via Client's. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.
