Our customer, a Ground Passenger Transportation company, is looking for a Privacy Counsel. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of high-impact privacy compliance projects while working directly with a leading technology company's legal and business teams.
Duration: 6 months, with the potential to extend
Hours: 40 hours/week
Location: San Francisco, California 94107 (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Privacy Integration Initiatives: Drive the comprehensive "Privacy Integration" project, managing multiple deliverables and workstreams while maintaining strategic oversight of project milestones.
- Provide Strategic Legal Counsel: Deliver sophisticated privacy guidance to support strategic business decisions, collaborating with key stakeholders across legal, product, engineering, and compliance teams
- Coordinate Cross-Functional Efforts: Interface with senior attorneys and partners as needed while maintaining day-to-day project leadership and accountability.
- Support M&A Privacy Requirements: Contribute to privacy integration efforts for current and future acquisitions, ensuring seamless compliance integration across product, technical, and programmatic dimensions.
- Enable Internal Capacity: Partner with the in-house legal team to complete critical. deliverables, creating bandwidth for internal counsel to address competing priorities.
Required Qualifications-
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Experience Level: 4-7 years of legal experience with substantial focus on data privacy and technology law.
- Privacy Expertise: Demonstrated experience advising technology companies on global data privacy compliance, including GDPR, CCPA, and other international privacy frameworks.
- M&A Privacy Integration: Direct experience managing privacy-related aspects of corporate acquisitions, including data mapping, privacy program integration, and regulatory compliance.
- Global Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of programmatic privacy compliance requirements in a multinational technology environment.
- Leadership Capabilities: Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative in identifying and resolving complex legal issues.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate complex privacy concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders with confidence and authority.
Preferred Qualifications-
- Experience with ridesharing, mobility, or platform technology companies.
- Familiarity with privacy engineering and privacy-by-design principles.
- Background in managing large-scale privacy compliance projects.
- Knowledge of emerging privacy regulations and industry best practices.
