Job Overview:

Seeking a Locum Tenens Optometrist to join the Pediatric Ophthalmology team. This role focuses on providing specialized optometric care for pediatric patients, including those with developmental delays and complex medical conditions. The department is well-equipped with advanced imaging technology and a strong support staff of ophthalmologists, optometrists, and technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive optometric care to pediatric patients.
• Conduct strabismus/binocular vision exams.
• Perform contact lens fittings, including complex pediatric cases (preferred).
• Work closely with ophthalmologists and other pediatric specialists.
• Manage patients with various cognitive abilities, including those on the autism spectrum.
• Utilize Epic for charting and documentation.

Patient Load & Environment:

• Patients per Day: 12-14, 30-minute appointments.
• Support Staff: Technicians, ophthalmologists, optometrists.
• Facility: Pediatric outpatient and hospital setting.
• Patient Population: Primarily pediatric, some adults with developmental delays and double vision (optional for locum).

Requirements:

• Education: Doctor of Optometry (OD); residency in pediatric optometry preferred. If no residency, a minimum of 3 years of pediatric experience is required.
• License: Active California Optometry License (required).
• Certifications: BLS (required).
• Experience: Strong background in pediatric optometry and experience working with complex pediatric populations.

Additional Details:

• Credentialing timeframe: 60-90 days.
• Interview Process: Virtual via Zoom.
