The Property Tax Consultant works with clients and internal teams to ensure compliance with jurisdictional requirements for personal property tax. This includes researching issues, reconciling financials and databases, working with taxing authorities to verify calculations and filings, and performing detailed calculations.


Key Responsibilities:

People:

  • Create a positive team environment.

Client:

  • Prepare personal property tax returns, filings, and asset reconciliations for clients.
  • Ensure timely processing and mailing of returns and remittances.
  • Review assessments, handle protests, and manage audits.
  • Respond to client inquiries and tax authority requests.
  • Research documentation and issues.
  • Work with raw data to perform calculations.

Value:

  • Assist in managing a high-volume compliance portfolio.
  • Provide exceptional service to multi-state companies and identify tax savings.
  • Support tax controversies, including preparing for audits, representing clients, and protests.
  • Maintain client filing calendars.
  • Learn and utilize proprietary software for data management.
  • Update internal compliance software with relevant tax information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Real Estate, or related disciplines. A Master's or JD is a plus.
  • Minimum 6 credit hours in Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, or Finance with a GPA of 3.0 or higher; Major GPA of 3.25 or higher.
  • Relevant work experience or internships preferred.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and work independently or in teams.

Computer Skills:

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet research.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid Driver's license required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role has no supervisory duties.

Work Environment:

  • Standard indoor setting.
  • Occasional long periods sitting at a computer.
  • Regular interaction with staff, clients, and vendors via in-person, email, or phone.
  • Travel up to 10-20% required.
