About This Role
This position sits at the intersection of cutting-edge AI research and practical application, focusing on studying data types essential for building state-of-the-art agents, such as browser and SWE agents. The ideal candidate will explore the data landscape to drive innovation in AI agents, guiding data strategy at Scale. Responsibilities include conducting research, publishing impactful papers, collaborating with researchers, and working with engineering teams to deploy scalable solutions.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

• Practical experience with LLMs, proficiency in frameworks like Pytorch, Jax, or TensorFlow, and ability to interpret research literature and prototype quickly.
• Track record of published research in top ML venues (e.g., ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).
• Minimum three years of experience solving complex ML problems in research or product development.
• Strong communication skills and ability to operate cross-functionally.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with open source LLM fine-tuning using Pytorch/Jax.
• Experience and publications related to AI agents, such as tool-use, text2SQL, browser, coding, or GUI agents.
• Knowledge of agent frameworks like OpenHands, Swarm, LangGraph.
• Familiarity with agentic reasoning methods like STaR and PLANSEARCH.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and developing ML models in cloud environments.

Our interviews assess practical ML prototyping, research understanding, and cultural fit. No LeetCode questions are asked.

Compensation includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Salary ranges vary by location ($220,000—$325,000 USD in SF, NY, Seattle). Benefits include health coverage, retirement plans, stipends, PTO, and possibly additional perks. The salary range will be confirmed during the hiring process.
