Friends of St. Francis is a 501 (c)(3) organization celebrating years of high quality childcare and family support services in San Francisco. The mission of Friends of St. Francis Childcare Center is to provide comprehensive, educationally based childcare services in a culturally and economically diverse urban setting. The center's model promotes the physical, intellectual, and emotional well-being of the children served through active involvement of parents and continued support and cooperation of the community.

Scope of Work:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Site Supervisor oversees daily operations for the program serving 38 children ages 24 months to 5 years. This is a leadership position that includes a) enhances the flow of daily routines and communication among staff so that children, parents and teachers can work together on behalf of the children in a responsive social-emotional environment b) provides administrative overview and action on issues related to compliance with licensing and funder requirements c) manages data for various projects and funders d) and facilitates emergency preparedness and other projects as needed and assigned.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supervise and serve as instructional leader, role model, and mentor to teaching staff.
• Responsible for orientating and training staff and substitutes and coordinating their task with consultants and other support staff.
• Coordinate and schedule in Title V ratio daily classroom coverage and vacations. Schedule rest and meal breaks.
• Implement systems with the Director to ensure the provision of high quality childcare standards consistent with licensing and other contractual expectation (i.e. COE, PFA, CCFP, etc.) along with other organizational expectations.
• Work with the Director and consultant in clarifying program goals and maintaining a forward looking, positive perspective about the program.
• Coordinate, supervise and coach teaching staff and develop an array of styles to meet the various learning modes.
• Maintain positive communication and self-awareness with and among staff using reflective practices and direct feedback from intentional, regular observations.
• Assist the Director with the development and implementation of program policies and procedures.
• Coordinate the various assessments and identification of children with developmental issues and work in concert with the Director and teacher to help parents' understanding of their children.
• Maintains confidentiality of children, families and staff.
• Ensure good support and communication with parents through new parent orientations, parent/teacher meetings, all parent meetings, parent participation and annual program evaluations.
• Conduct tours for new children and families.
• Conduct work using professional ethics of confidentiality, discretion and sound judgement.
• Back up in the absence of the Director.

• Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred degree in Child Development or Early Child Development, or relevant field.
• Possess or be eligible for a Site Supervisor Child Development Permit or higher.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervision. Preferred 5 years of supervision experience.
• Ability to supervise and work with a staff of varying educational and experiential backgrounds with sensitive leadership, maturity, and stability.
• Sensitivity to the individual and group needs of the children's parents and staff.
• Proven ability to demonstrate good judgment and management of crisis situations.
• Fingerprints clearance through Department of Justice for Child Abuse Index Check and Criminal Record Statement.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in English.
• Strong inter-personal communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to relate to children and adults in a positive, respectful manner.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to the cultural background of the children being served.
• Proficiency in computer software such as Google Suite or Microsoft.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Must pass physical examination and have current vaccination records as part of SB792.
• Must have or ability to obtain valid/current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification.
