International Admissions Counselor

Description:

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of International Admission, an Admissions Counselor performs a variety of activities to recruit and enroll a qualified and diverse undergraduate student body that meets the college's enrollment goals. This position is based in San Francisco.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advising and Counseling - 40%

  • Counsels all prospective international students on their post-secondary educational goals and CCA programs, including major requirements, transfer processes, admissions, financial aid, English language proficiency, housing, class registration and obtaining student visa processes.
  • Speak to foreign academic systems in order to review students' transcripts and qualifications and perform GPA conversions for admissions purposes.
  • Provides general guidance on the I-20 application process and F-1 student visa requirements and limitations, and collaborates with the International Office to support students in navigating the I-20 and visa application processes.
  • Processes, reviews and assesses applications and portfolios for admission purposes.
  • Supports enrollment procedure and office policy including CCA's database systems Workday and Salesforce and ticketing system TeamWork.
  • Develops a working knowledge of all CCA curriculum, with specialized knowledge as assigned, and general knowledge of the art school landscape, with the ability to communicate this information to prospective students and families orally and in writing.
Recruitment and Planning/Analysis Support - 40%
  • Visits and recruits students virtually and in-person at high schools and college fairs internationally. Visits and recruits students at high schools, community colleges, community agencies, portfolio prep programs, National Portfolio Days and college fairs in national and international regions such as Asia, North America, and South America.
  • Develops territory specific recruitment strategies and contacts. Coordinates and schedules travel within assigned territories.
  • Maintains communications and follow-up with contacts and prospective students by texting, social media, email, telephone, and in-person.
  • Assists in the preliminary advising, registration and financial aid counseling of new students and coordinates reviews for studio and academic placement with Student Records Office and Faculty.
  • Provides recommendations for planning and implementing recruitment and yield activities such as Pre-College workshops, public presentations and group tours, open houses, orientation, evening programs, Portfolio Days and special events.
Administrative - 20%
  • Assesses and projects enrollment yield of assigned territories to then have manager review for approval.
  • Completes and maintains reports and records on recruitment territory and admissions activity.
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of admissions procedures and operations.
  • Develops and manages special projects or events as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience working in college admissions and/or with international populations, recruitment, student services and/or financial aid
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Proficiency in an additional language is preferred
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Digital proficiency
  • Familiarity with using data to inform their work
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Must demonstrate good judgement and experience working with diverse groups in an educational or other non-profit organization
  • Ability to work under pressure of competing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
  • Background in the arts and the ability to assess and/or evaluate student portfolios strongly desired.
  • The individual must be willing to travel 12-14 weeks per year (locally, nationally, and internationally) primarily in the fall. Position requires weekend and extended hours, especially during the fall and January through March.
  • Possessing a valid passport is required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • The range for this position is $27.05 - $27.59/hour
  • CCA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including the choice of five medical plans, generous holiday, sick & vacation time, a retirement match and tuition remission. CCA covers an average of 91% of the medical plan cost for the employee only and an average of 82% for employees with dependents. More information can be found here:
POSITION DETAILS:
  • CCA considers a full-time work week to be 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work Mode: Hybrid
  • Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm
  • This position is covered under the staff union collective bargaining agreement and will be required to contribute to union dues/agency fees.
