JOB SUMMARY:

Under direction of Material Damage leadership, the Material Damage Field Appraiser performs the essential functions of the position, which includes but is not limited to:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

1. Ensures equitable settlement of damages and maintains good customer service and shop relations.
2. Inspect and evaluate either in the field or virtually the degree of physical damage to vehicles for first and third party claims; complete detailed summary of damage and estimate cost of repair based on knowledge of equipment, parts and present values.
3. Present estimates and reach agreed upon price with repair facility, and confirm assessment of damages and costs; negotiate settlements with related parties as necessary.
4. Research actual cash value of vehicles and parts by gathering and analyzing current market information to reach a settlement for total losses.
5. Take photographs of vehicle and physical damage to aid in the determination of liability and to substantiate findings; submit with completed reports and thorough documentation.
6. Perform re-inspections and/or authorize supplemental repairs as necessary to ensure quality service and thorough restoration of damage.
7. Maintain communication with clients throughout repair process; report initial evaluation and summary of damage, explain relevant procedures, respond to customer inquiries; provide complete, courteous and timely customer service.
8. Keep abreast of current values of vehicles and parts, changes in the industry and in Company policies and procedures. Ensure ongoing adjudication of claims within company standards and industry best practices and regulations;
9. Produce grammatically correct and clearly written correspondence including letters, memos, reports and claim file documentation;
10. Complies with state and federal laws, Department of Insurance criteria, insurance carrier criteria and follows and enforces Aspire General Insurance/partner's policies, procedure and work rules;
11. Writes appraisals using licensed software;
12. Regular and predictable punctuality and attendance;
13. Other duties as necessary.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

1. Five plus years' experience in Property and Casualty insurance industry;
2. College degree preferred:
3. Must have a clear understanding of insurance industry practices, standards and terminology;
4. Five plus years of Auto vehicle estimating, all types of vehicle damage claims and repairs and total losses including the complex repairs with minimal management oversight
5. May be asked to assist supervisor in the onboarding and assimilation of new team members
6. Will assist MD leadership in resolving complex and difficult claims including working and negotiating with the most difficult body shops, tow yards and storage facilities
7. Must be able to pass a background check with the anticipated goal of acquiring and maintaining a current Independent Adjuster License with the Department of Insurance;
8. Must have a disciplined approach to all job-related activities;
9. Must have a solid foundation of personal organization, sound decision making and analytical skills, strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. This is a non-exempt position which complies with alternative work schedule when applicable;
2. This position may require mandatory overtime as deemed appropriate by management;
3. The office is that of a highly technical company supporting a paperless environment;
4. Travel is required within assigned territory and travel maybe required outside normal territory;
5. Vision abilities to work at close range and with small print.
6. Physical efforts required include typing, repetitive small motor activity, grasping, stooping; reaching, standing, lifting light objects under 10 pounds frequently and climbing occasionally (small step ladder to reach supplies).
