Safeway is currently seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to fill temporary positions as Grocery Store Associates. These roles will serve as support during a labor strike, ensuring our valued customers continue to have a positive shopping experience when needed.

Position Overview:

We are compiling a list of interested candidates for potential temporary strike replacement roles. If selected, you will be offered a position that remains active throughout the strike period. Shifts and hours will vary depending on the needs of the store.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service:
• Welcome customers and assist them in finding products.
• Operate cash registers and ensure accurate transactions.
• Bag groceries and offer assistance with carry-outs when needed.
• Respond to customer inquiries and smoothly escalate issues to supervisors.
• Stocking & Merchandising:
• Restock shelves and maintain attractive product displays.
• Ensure all items are correctly labeled and priced.
• Rotate stock and promptly remove expired or damaged products.
• Cleanliness & Safety:
• Keep aisles, restrooms, and common areas clean and organized.
• Sanitize shopping carts, baskets, and checkout areas regularly.
• Adhere to all safety and hygiene standards.
• Departmental Support:
• Assist in various departments, including Produce, Deli, Bakery, Meat, or Dairy.
• Perform basic food preparation, packaging, and stocking duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Previous experience in retail or grocery is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
