Responsibilities & Duties

As a VP, FP&A at Redwood Trust, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the company can plan for growth, execute on, and track performance against the budget. You will lead key elements of the budgeting, forecasting, and reporting cycles, and contribute to preparing presentations for the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership. Your work will support Redwood Trust in achieving its quarterly, annual, and long-term goals through crafting short and long-term financial/operational reports, analyses, and strategies.

  • Build quarterly Board Decks, ad hoc presentations, and partner on strategic projects.
  • Oversee the financial planning system (Anaplan).
  • Maintain the company's operating model, collaborate across departments to provide forward-looking analysis supporting business decisions and capital allocation.
  • Oversee and review detailed analysis, modeling, and forecasting of financial and business performance to support company-wide financial and operational objectives.
  • Partner with business leaders to ensure linkage between operational, planning, and strategic activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with the FP&A team and other internal partners to drive deliverables.
  • Perform ad-hoc and deep-dive analyses to support management decisions.
  • Lead month-end and quarter-end close and reporting responsibilities.
  • Analyze data to recommend actions through interpretation and comparative analysis.
  • Create presentations and reports for business leaders to support their respective lines of business.

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field is required.
  • Master's degree or advanced certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) preferred.
  • 7-10 years of industry experience in budgeting, planning, financial modeling, and decision analytics (e.g., FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity).
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative.
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter with leadership ability and experience working with senior management.
  • Knowledge of finance concepts, financial statement analysis, and business drivers.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with cloud-based ERP systems like Anaplan.

A reasonable estimate of the total compensation range for this role is $150,000-$196,000. The actual salary will depend on education, location, training, licensure, and other factors.
