JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports To: Co-Executive Director of Programs and Partnerships

Travel Required: >15%

Pay Rate: $30-$33/hour

Minimum Availability: 20 hours per week

SUMMARY

SisterWeb (SW) has a community doula program and other training and collaborations in our network. The Workforce Development Coordinator supports the Co-Executive Directors as an important member of the SisterWeb Administrative team. The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, capable of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks, collaborative, and maintains a high level of attention to detail.

SisterWeb's Workforce Development Coordinator will provide crucial ongoing oversight of the Doula Trainings provided to Community members, as well as oversight of the Apprenticeship Program.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the hiring, onboarding, and development of SisterWeb Apprentices
  • Identify and evaluate innovative strategies and solutions to support program goals and help drive continuous education and work skills improvement for Apprentices
  • Oversee Apprentices through the steps of creating annual SW Core Competency-centered SMARTIE goals.
  • Oversee any guest presenters and contractors collaborating with SisterWeb during Doula Trainings

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee training logistics (set up and clean up, attendance, certificates, coordinating with all trainers) biannually.
  • Coordinate logistics related to outreach for Trainings and Apprenticeship Program
  • Ensure quality of Doula Trainings and Apprenticeship program related to both SisterWeb values and Industry Best Practices
  • Initiate and manage relationships for learning opportunities and programs
  • Work with internal and external trainers/partners to implement, and evaluate Apprenticeship Program and New Doula Trainings
  • Event creation, tracking attendance, reporting, data collection, and sharing
  • Coordinate requirements and submissions for Doula Certification and Renewal of Certifications
  • Coordinate logistics for both Doula Trainees and Apprentices to receive mentorship
  • Coordinate the creation and maintenance of a Doula Directory for SisterWeb Trained Doulas
  • Actively participate, whether in person or remotely, in reflective and restorative practices when conflict arises within SisterWeb and/or with community partners
  • Support with the evaluation, monitoring, and reporting of outcome data, program performance and quality assurance surveys as it pertains to their position.
  • Develop and assist with presentations, narrative and technical reports
  • Assist with ordering supplies for trainings
  • Proposal and budget development

SUCCESS CRITERIA

  • Maintain good interpersonal relationships and communication with SisterWeb leadership, staff, and community partners
  • Cultivate and grow relationships with past, current, and potential partners, increasing retention, persistence, tenacity, and growth for SisterWeb Doulas, apprentices, and other staff
  • Be exceptionally organized, capable of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks, collaborative, and maintains a high level of attention to detail
  • Commitment to anti-oppression and decolonization work with a focus on racial equity and reproductive justice, specific to birth justice
  • Candidate must have experience providing support to communities of color
  • Experience with mentoring and/or managing other personnel
  • Bay Area resident and familiar with San Francisco birth locations, community resources, and cultural communities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of education, workforce development, and birthwork career advancement goals, initiatives, and resources
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and organize work projects
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to adapt and adjust work hours for evening or weekend meetings; including the ability to travel to and from meetings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATES

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience working within and/or with communities of color
  • Prior experience and confidence as a trainer and group facilitator
  • Demonstrated experience (via paid work, volunteer, or life experience) in birth work, parenting, and early learning and development is highly desirable
  • Knowledgeable of the distinctions between the work models of private doula and community doula
  • Have an awareness of and experience with working with cultures outside of your own that reflect an appreciable level of cultural competency
  • Birth/Labor Doula Certification or equivalent training preferred but not required
  • Other Birthwork Licensing/Certification (i.e., midwifery, nursing), preferred but not required
  • Experience working with multiple cultures of people in addition to your own preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Proficiency with Google Apps/G Suite, MS Office, and familiarity working with databases
  • Familiarity with project management apps like Asana preferred
  • Knowledge of Clear Impact/Compyle a plus
  • Familiarity with remote working technology/platforms (i.e., Zoom, FaceTime, etc)
  • Experience working with multiple cultures of people in addition to your own preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work primarily at the SW office in San Francisco, with some off-site meetings/events. Some days will require flexible hours, with either an early start or a late finish. Occasional weekend work to respond to urgent issues and/or logistical support for weekend engagements and events may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Position frequently requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Position continually requires the ability to talk and hear both in person and over the phone, visual acuity, the ability to operate equipment, read, and use a keyboard
