Contract-to-Hire Opportunity: AI Software Engineer (Onsite – San Francisco, CA)

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled AI Software Engineer to join a fast-paced, agile team focused on applying the latest advancements in artificial intelligence to solve complex, real-world problems. This position is ideal for an experienced developer who thrives in innovative environments and wants to work at the forefront of AI technology within a mission-driven organization.

This role will start as a contract-to-hire and is intended to transition into a full-time permanent position upon successful performance evaluation.

Onsite in Downtown San Francisco, CA (No remote option)

• Design, build, and maintain complex software systems leveraging cutting-edge AI models.
• Build and optimize robust machine learning pipelines with a focus on scalability and high availability.
• Collaborate with team members to define requirements, perform software design, peer reviews, and documentation.
• Implement best practices including version control, unit testing, code reviews, and agile development cycles.
• Design and analyze experiments to validate model performance and improve AI workflows.
• Proficiency in .NET / .NET Core and C#
• Strong experience in Python, particularly in data engineering or AI development
• Hands-on experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and tools like ChatGPT, Cursor, or Copilot
• Proven background in API Microservices development
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming
• Experience with SQL and writing/debugging distributed queries
• Strong focus on testing, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, agile team

Preferred Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering or data/ML engineering
• Cloud experience (ideally with Azure)
• Exposure to big data tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, Impala, Solr, or Kudu
• Familiarity with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn
• Experience with ETL processing and end-to-end ML pipeline development

Additional Notes

• The role is onsite and part of a small, high-impact team with visibility across the organization.
• The contract engagement includes a performance evaluation to determine long-term fit before conversion to full-time.
• No new full contract is required upon conversion — an amendment to the existing agreement will be issued to reflect any rate adjustments or changes.
