Software Engineer - Burlingame, CA

Job Description:

The team you will be joining is working on generating ground truth data to train machine learning (ML) models used in Meta's Quest devices to better predict things like depth perception accuracy. This team handles back-end pipeline and algorithm (CV/ML) development (related to distributed computing/distributed systems). In this role, you will be building backend components for distributed systems that are scalable and adaptive to various data acquisition and ground truth data generation processes. We're addressing a variety of technical challenges in the areas of providing high-quality ground truth data that enable the training and evaluation of various ML models, including depth estimation, object detection, scene understanding, 3D reconstruction, SLAM tracking and occlusion modeling.

Software Engineer Responsibilities

• Design and develop for various backend components and refractor software libraries to support virtual reality and data collection devices (AR glasses, Smart Wearables, VR headsets)
• Design and develop software tools for data analysis, visualization, and synchronization
• Assist in developing data pipelines used to train ML models for things such as depth estimation, object detection, scene understanding, 3D reconstruction, SLAM tracking and occlusion modeling
• Maintain, analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system infrastructure
• Establish self as an owner of a particular component, feature or system with expert end-to-end understanding
• Successfully completes projects at large scope while maintaining a consistent high level of productivity

Minimum Qualifications

• Proficient with Python and C++
• Experience with distributed systems development
• Experience maintaining, analyzing and improving efficiency, scalability, and stability of backend systems
• Experience improving quality through thoughtful code reviews, appropriate testing, proper rollout, monitoring, and proactive changes
• Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Nice to have (Not Required):

• Experience with various Computer Vision and Machine Learning models
• Experience with ground-truth data, including processing and pipeline data for training ML models
• Experience building and shipping high quality work and achieving high reliability
• Experience owning a component or feature a distributed system
• Exposure to architectural patterns of large scale software applications
