Job Title: Resident Office Assistant (RA) - non-residential
Department: Ballet School
Reports To (Job Title): Senior Manager of Residential Life
Compensation: $23 - 26 per hour
Classification and Hours: Part-time, hourly - average of 2-3 days per week
Job Purpose: Under supervision of the Senior Manager of Residential Life, the Resident Office Assistant assists with the supervision of students and the management of the Student Residence.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Residence Manager, serves as “in-loco parentis” for students living in the facility and responds to any emergency (fire, medical, earthquake, etc). Reinforces compliance with fire, safety, security and curfew guidelines and procedures. When needed, supervises students to scheduled, urgent, and emergency doctor's appointments in consultation with School administration. Assists in the cleanliness and upkeep of the office unit.
- Oversees and assures student timely participation events, activities, bed-check, curfew, and housekeeping assignments.
- Assists Manager of Residential Life with facility systems according to prescribed guidelines: room assignments, key issuance, common spaces, storage areas, laundry room, etc. Assists with administrative assignments and preparation of rooms for school year program and summer session.
- Along with the Senior Manager of Residential Life, builds rapport with students, helps implement social events, and facilitates healthy exchanges between students to effectively create a harmonious community.
- Applies fair and consistent disciplinary standards for all dormitory students. Refers all major disciplinary offenses to the Senior Manager of Residential Life.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.

Education Level And Focus
- AA degree/ 2 or more years of college preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is acceptable
Years And Type Of Related Experience Required
- Summer camp counselor, youth development assistant, university residence life staff, or RA experience working with adolescents in a residential setting preferred.

- Actively listens to students and family concerns and problems and reports concerns and problems to school administration as appropriate. Helps to identify appropriate solutions. Follows up to ensure positive outcomes.

- Maintains documentation and files that are readily accessible and understandable by others.
- Demonstrates diplomacy and tact in all interactions
- Applies creativity and innovation to work processes
- Supports and provides equal and fair treatment and opportunity for all.
- Ability to understand, follow, and enforce SFBS and SFCM/ Bowes Center emergency and safety guidelines
Physical Demands
- Must be able to physically assist an injured student which may include lifting the individual and supporting their weight with your shoulders. Must be able to lift boxes of supplies weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to climb/descend stairs.
Required Licenses
- CPR and First Aid certification (paid for by SFB)

- Employment subject to a successful FBI and CA DOJ background check and fingerprinting.
