Position: Fleet Support Engineer

Location: Foster City, CA, United States

Work Environment: In-person

Expected Pay: 60.00 USD Per Hour

Contract Duration: 6 month contract

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire a Fleet Support Engineer to be actively engaged in the operational uptime of the company fleet.

In this role, you'll diagnose complex hardware/software related issues, interface with cross-functional engineering teams to drive resolution, capture the troubleshooting details and place them in the internal knowledge database. This role will require flexibility to work nights/weekends as needed with advanced notice.

As Fleet Support Engineer, you'll:

• Act as point of contact for real-time escalation from technicians on fleet issues.
• Document, amend and maintain a troubleshooting guide for all technicians to use as faults are diagnosed/resolved.
• Establish diagnostic procedures to expedite troubleshooting in the future.
• Provide historical review of vehicle/fleet data, parsing/interpreting vehicle logs and their physical implications.
• Work with engineering design to improve tooling and detection of issues.
• Work to implement effective countermeasures across the fleet.
• Define/capture required data points to validate issue resolution.
• Occasionally travel within the U.S. to support various operational locations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace or autonomous vehicles.
• Experience with low/high voltage circuits, Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) and experience on how to safely troubleshoot.
• Understanding of hardware/software systems architecture, communications to support in an operations setting.
• Embraces a holistic problem-solving approach to identifying issues with high-level vehicle functions and drive specific resolution into single components.
• Self-starter with the ability to build relationships across the company.
• Ability to comprehend schematics, electrical diagrams and connector end views/pinout.
• Have availability for nights/weekends as needed with advanced notice.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electric vehicle technology.
• Experience with remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with vehicle hardware.
• Experience with Linux and Python-based programming systems for fleet-level data processing.
• Experience with software that interfaces with hardware.
• Familiarity with networking, TCP and socket programming.

Commitment: This is a full-time, 6-month ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.
