Who are we looking for?

The US West Region is seeking a motivated Senior Project Engineer / Design Manager - Highways & Roads to support GHD's established Highways and Roads practice throughout California and the US West. We are looking for a proactive Transportation Project Engineer/Design Manager with the skills to elevate our practice in delivering highways, interchanges, local roads, roundabouts, trails/active transportation, bridges, and other vital infrastructure.

Through a broad network of clients, GHD is involved in transportation projects across Federal, State, Regional, County, Municipal agencies, and private sectors. This is a unique opportunity to join a large, well-established organization that values teamwork, integrity, and respect. You will collaborate with our skilled multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver projects efficiently and provide high-value consultancy services.

This position is based out of any of our California offices (Irvine, San Diego, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Concord, Santa Rosa, Roseville, San Francisco), but will be networked across our offices in the West Region, focusing on California.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing technical guidance and project oversight on transportation systems projects.
• Leading the production of complex engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
• Assisting in project scope, schedule, and budget management.
• Leading project teams and promoting collaboration.
• Mentoring junior staff.
• Engaging with community and professional organizations.
• Managing client relationships and attending meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Registered Civil Engineer in California.
• 8+ years of experience in transportation and municipal engineering.

Salary Range: $138,000 - $207,000 depending on experience and location.
