Advanced Clinical Associates (ACA) will work closely with our MD, NP and PA providers. They are primarily responsible for documenting the patient history, physical examination, family, social, and past medical history as dictated by the Practitioner (Physician and/or mid-level Provider). The ACA will be responsible for clearly documenting all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system as dictated by the Practitioner.

NEMS is developing a hybrid in-person/remote scribe program. Depending on clinical needs, the position may be a hybrid model (part time in person scribing/part time remote scribing from another clinic).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Transcribe medical charting for providers using appropriate medical terminology, both in a remote setting and in person setting as needed.
2. Document all relevant aspects of the medical visit as directed by the provider directly into the electronic medical record.
3. Assist with teaching/educating the patient by retrieving the appropriate labs, scans, x-rays, results, handouts and displaying to the patient as directed by the provider.
4. Assign appropriate ICD 10-CM, CPT and other codes to patient encounter as needed.
5. Work closely with provider to verify accuracy and validity of documentation.
6. Assist with operations and clinical workflows.
7. Help with referrals.
8. Assist with administration and documentation of clinical screens.
9. Assist patient with navigating the clinic, pharmacy, follow up appointments, labs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree.
2. Must be proficient in using computers, Zoom, etc.
3. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
4. Typing speed of 50+ WPM.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Accurate and effective listening skills.
7. Detail-oriented and problem-solving skills.
8. Ability to take direction and to follow instructions.
9. Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize work under pressure.
10. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, CPT, ICD-10-CM or clinical documentation is preferred.
11. Prior experience with an Electronic Health Record system is preferred.
12. Prior customer service experience preferred.
13. Prior experience in a medical field is a plus.
14. Ability to float between other NEMS locations as needed to work remotely.

LANGUAGE:

1. Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.
2. Must be able to fluently speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin.
3. Fluent in other languages are an asset.

STATUS:

This is an FLSA Non-exempt position.
This is not an OSHA high-risk position.

Salary: $30.00/Hour
