We are currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our dynamic Team in our new San Francisco office - supporting Paving, Grading, & Civil construction projects.


Job Description:

  • Support construction activities by planning, organizing, and implementing project engineering & project controls tasks as required for successful project execution.
  • Processing Submittals, Change Orders, and RFI's
  • Safe work planning and execution.
  • Project Layouts
  • USA Layout (calling and updates)
  • Quality control supervision.
  • Quantity tracking Budget management
  • Scheduling 3 weeks, 9 day look ahead, weekly schedule update (every Monday) and monthly Project Schedule Baseline Update.
  • Contract / subcontract administration.
  • Change coordination (COR).
  • Document control (tags, invoices, and material).
  • Project closeout.
  • Provide supervision on-the-job for activities performance.
  • Develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
  • Assist the project team in implementing overall Quality Management system.
  • Inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.
  • Inspect subordinates' work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for executing projects.
  • Tracking material costs and quantities entering project sites.
  • Create reports based on monthly material costs and inventory.
  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations.
  • Interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work (billing process).
  • Perform the preparation of work plans and work packages.
  • Field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data.
  • USA layout/call in remarks.
  • Layout pothole activities and performing the report.
  • Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets.
  • Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training.
  • Assist on Order and schedule material deliveries.
  • Regular, reliable attendance.
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • May need to work additional hours during the week and weekend to complete job responsibilities within deadlines.
  • May work at various locations and conditions may vary.
  • Evaluate, prepare, and distribute appropriate RFI's and COR's.
  • Maintain accurate logs/records of the activities associated with RFI/Submittal/COR processes and ensure that critical pending items are brought to the forefront.
  • Support on multiple projects


Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field – may substitute degree for field experience
  • Minimum of (1) years' experience in construction or engineering with an emphasis on Civil Projects
  • Experience with Concrete, Paving, or Civil Construction a plus
  • Working knowledge and ability to direct the operation of at least the following management systems: accounts payable/accounts receivable, materials control, estimating, job cost updates and subcontracts
  • Proven abilities and skills in the following: leadership and management of people, communication (verbal and written), planning, organization, delegation as well as teaching and mentoring
  • Ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity for his/her subordinates
  • Ability to access all areas of the construction site
  • Previous experience / knowledge of City & County Municipal requirements and specifications a plus.
  • Excellent people skills & works well with others – team player!
  • Self-starter & educator
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Possesses excellent organizational/coordination skills
  • Computer Skills must include: Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Access)
