Who We ARE


The Downtown SF Partnership (DSFP) is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing supplemental and enhanced cleaning and safety services, marketing and events, public realm improvements, and economic development to support a clean, safe, vibrant, and memorable downtown San Francisco. Founded in 2020, DSFP services 43-blocks of San Francisco's traditional Financial District and the Jackson Square through property assessments ($4.8M/year), supplemented by grants and sponsorships ($1-2M).


DSFP's a leading voice in reimagining downtown San Francisco as mixed-use urban environment comprised of office, entertainment, arts and culture, and hospitality uses, with emerging AI technology and venture capital firms moving into the district. Downtown San Francisco is an economic powerhouse for the city, State, and country. It is small in geographic size accounting for approximately 4% of San Francisco's total land area but generating up to 70% of the city's GDP.


What We're Seeking


As the Economic Research & Data Analyst, you'll join an award-winning, organization working on impactful, highly visible projects and initiatives helping shape downtown San Francisco's future. Reporting to the VP of Planning & Economic Development & Planning, you'll work cross-functionally with a professional team comprised of multi-faceted backgrounds and decades of experience. We're seeking an enthusiastic, thoughtful person who brings subject matter expertise, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for economic development towards downtown regeneration. You can demonstrate experience working in high-functioning team where you thrive on building transformational relationships and very comfortable with navigating environments where flexibility, organization, and drive lead to success.


How You Will Spend Your Time


We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Economic Research & Data Analyst to support the organization's economic development, planning, and advocacy efforts. This role will lead the collection, analysis, visualization, and storytelling of data related to downtown San Francisco's economic health, real estate activity, public space use, and recovery metrics. The Analyst will play a critical role in shaping strategic priorities, measuring impact, and positioning DSFP as a thought leader to businesses, developers, brokers, and policymakers.


Urban Economics & Real Estate Analysis

  • Track and maintain quality control of key downtown indicators such as pedestrian activity, transit ridership, employment, retail and hospitality performance, visitation, commercial occupancy, and leasing trends.
  • Collect, synthesize, and analyze data from public and private sources (e.g., city departments, real estate firms, mobility data providers, census data, and third-party platforms).
  • Monitor real estate ownership changes and development pipelines, land use changes, permitting activity, and zoning updates.
  • Manage and optimize DSFP's Salesforce CRM for economic and stakeholder data tracking.


Data Visualization & Content Development

  • Create clear, visually engaging dashboards, charts, maps, and infographics for use in presentations, reports, social media, the DSFP website, and other external marketing collateral.
  • Use GIS tools to conduct and visualize spatial analysis of economic, land use, and public space trends.
  • Author blogs, articles, and e-newsletter content to highlight economic research and thought leadership, including data insights and supporting materials for grant applications and fundraising campaigns.
  • Produce recurring market snapshots, trend reports, stakeholder surveys, and research briefs on downtown San Francisco economic conditions.


Outreach & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key downtown stakeholders, including City officials, civic organizations, property owners and managers, developers, brokers, large employers, and ground-floor businesses.
  • Assist DSFP Leadership Team with briefing stakeholders on market trends, economic data, and policy developments that support downtown investment and growth.
  • Collect and integrate stakeholder feedback into program development and economic strategy recommendations through online, 1:1, and visitor surveys
  • Support office tenant and ground floor business attraction and retention efforts by sharing data-driven insights and collaborating with brokers and leasing agents to match businesses with available space.
  • Support DSFP's Leadership Team with monitoring policymaking bodies and identify legislation and proposals that may impact Downtown San Francisco.

These are essential functions of the position; other duties may be assigned.


Requirements/Qualifications


· A bachelor's degree in economics, urban planning, data science, real estate or a related field.

· A minimum of 3 years of experience in an analytical or research role related to urban economics, commercial real estate, city planning, or a similar field. Applied graduate coursework may be considered towards relevant experience.

· Technical proficiency using Salesforce, Tableau, GIS, Power BI, Placer.ai, CoStar, Infogram, Canva, and/or other economic development and mapping and data visualization platforms.

· Ability to access, distill, analyze economic and statistical data and quantitative and qualitative research.

· Familiarity with economic development, public-private partnerships, and downtown revitalization efforts.

· Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear and actionable insights and recommendations.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly advance knowledge of Excel.

· Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.


Position Specifications, Compensation & Benefits


Starting Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 (exempt, salaried position) plus benefits

Hours & Work Environment


Work hours are typically 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday in-person. Evening and weekend work may be required to support meetings and special events.
