Description:

Alternative Family Services (AFS) is looking for an Information Technology Support Specialist to join our team! The IT Support Specialist provides technical assistance and support to end-users regarding computer database systems, software applications and network infrastructure, to ensure that all technical aspects are functioning optimally. Their primary responsibility is to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues not otherwise handled by the agency-wide IT vendor. They also provide guidance and training to users on using IT systems effectively.

This is a full-time position, and work is conducted both remotely, and on-site at AFS offices throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Responsibilities

  • End-User Support: Deliver prompt technical assistance to staff in-person, virtually, via email, and through the agency's IT support desk. Guide users through troubleshooting steps and ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Communication: Clearly and effectively communicate technical information to a wide range of users, including those with limited technical knowledge
  • Issue Resolution: Investigate and identify root causes of technical issues and implement effective, long-term solutions
  • System Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related problems across the agency
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for IT systems, support procedures, troubleshooting steps, and solutions
  • User Training: Conduct training sessions and provide guidance on the use of new software applications and IT systems as needed
  • Inventory & Vendor Support: Manage relationships with external vendors to support and maintain the agency's IT hardware and software inventory
  • Policy Compliance: Adhere to the agency's IT policies, procedures, and standards as outlined in the Technology Handbook
  • Workplace Standards: Comply with the agency's attendance and punctuality requirements
  • Travel: Travel to AFS offices using a personal vehicle, providing on-site support
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor to support departmental and organizational goals

Qualifications
  • Education & Work Experience: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience and training directly related to the essential duties of the position
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong working knowledge of computer systems, software, and applications.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, mobile platforms (iOS and Windows), Zoom, and other workplace technology is required
    • Experience and Proficiency with SQL databases
  • Independence & Time Management: Capable of working independently with minimal supervision; able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines efficiently
  • Customer Service: Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service and build positive relationships with end users
  • Work Ethic & Integrity: High level of professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic
  • Teamwork & Communication:
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, county personnel, and interdisciplinary teams
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Open to feedback and direction from supervisors and stakeholders
  • Problem Solving & Organization: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Language: Fluency in reading and writing English is required
  • Background Clearance: Obtain and maintain fingerprint and government and Agency required background clearances
  • Driver's License: Possession of a valid California driver's license, a clean driving record, and current auto insurance listing the applicant as a covered driver

Driving Requirements

This position requires the employee to work on-site at AFS office throughout the San Francisco Bay area. Thus, this position requires the employee to possess a valid CA driver's license, and valid automobile insurance with his/her name on the verification card as an insured driver on the policy at all times.
