Reporting to the facilities manager, you will support the café coordinator in ensuring an exceptional experience for every guest. Your responsibilities include greeting customers, taking and processing orders with precision, preparing high-quality beverages and food items, and maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of the café/coffee cart. We are looking for a customer-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about coffee and providing outstanding service. This position is 100% on-site, and we appreciate your availability to work evenings and weekends as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupport all operating aspects of the Cafe and Coffee Cart services, including working with outside caterers or vendors for menu setting, price sensitivity, scheduling, and supplies as approved by the Associate Director of Facilities and Business Operations.Provide a warm, welcoming environment for guests. Engage with customers, assisting them with menu selections and answering questions.Set up and display daily offerings in a novel and inviting way.Accurately take and process customer orders, paying close attention to specific requests and preferences to ensure customer satisfaction.Prepare and serve various coffee and tea beverages and light food items, following established recipes and presentation standards.Serve a variety of prepared food items and drinks to guests.Efficiently manage the point of sale, including processing credit card transactions, ensuring accuracy in all financial dealings.Maintain the cleanliness of the café/coffee cart, including the dining, counter, and kitchen areas. Ensure equipment and utensils are clean and in good working order and promptly report any maintenance or hygiene issues.Monitor the inventory levels of coffee supplies, food items, and utensils. Restock items as needed and assist in inventory audits and supply orders.Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe environment for customers and staff.Actively collect and relay customer feedback to management. Contribute ideas for menu development and operational improvements.Collaborate with other university departments to address related service needs as appropriate.Create a positive first impression to set the tone for an enjoyable experience.Requirements:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSExperience in a café or similar hospitality environment is preferred.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.Basic mathematical skills for conducting transactions and completing inventory reports.A passion for coffee and food, wanting to learn and grow within the café industry.ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDSOccasional work performed alone. Collaboration and constant work around and with other people.PHYSICAL ABILITIESThis position requires attention to detail, good memory, ability to work under deadline pressure, sitting and standing for long periods of time, oral and written communication, keyboarding for significant portions of the workday, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, patience, and tact to perform the essential functions.LOCATIONOn Campus (may work evenings and weekends).POSITION HOURSWe are looking for acandidate with the availability of 10-20 hours per week (our preference is for 20 hours).Additional Information:WAGES AND BENEFITS$18.67 (hourly).NOTES TO CANDIDATEWorking Conditions - Duties are primarily performed in an office environment at a desk or computer terminal, typically Monday through Friday.Background Check - Due to the sensitivity and requirements of this position, you should expect to undergo and be cleared of an employment background/criminal check, if extended an offer for employment.
